pen palsterms of use
last updated: 30 october 2026
these are the rules for using pen pals, between you and nounish operations pty
ltd. apple's standard app licence also applies to the app.
the short version
- be kind.
- you own what you draw.
- pen pals is free while we're new. if we ever charge, we'll tell you first,
and you'll never pay without agreeing to it.
- one account works in the app and in your browser.
your account
keep your email up to date, because that's how you sign in. if you're under
13, a parent or guardian sets up and looks after your account, using their own
email. you're responsible for what happens on your account.
your drawings
you own what you draw. you let us store it, copy it between devices, show it to
the people in your drawings, and back it up, because pen pals can't work
without that. we won't use your drawings to advertise pen pals unless you say
we can.
be kind
don't use pen pals to:
- bully, harass or threaten anyone
- share sexual content involving anyone under 18, or intimate images of anyone
without their consent, including made-up ones
- share anything illegal, or anything that isn't yours to share
- spam people or get around a block
- break or overload pen pals
you can report or block someone from the menu in a drawing, or email
penpals@nounish.com. we look at every report within a day, and we can remove
content or close accounts that break these rules.
copyright
if something on pen pals uses your work without permission, tell our copyright
agent and we'll take it down. email penpals@nounish.com, call +61 494 912 536,
or write to: copyright agent, nounish operations pty ltd, 15-17 aberdeen rd,
prahran vic 3181, australia.
please include:
- your name, address, phone, email and signature (typing your full name is
fine)
- the work you own, and where it is on pen pals: a drawing's link and
which lines or photo
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't allowed by you, your
agent or the law
- a statement that your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that
you own the work or may act for whoever does
we'll remove it and tell the person who added it. if they think we got it
wrong, they can send us a counter-notice, and we follow the united states'
digital millennium copyright act for what happens next. we close the accounts
of people who keep sharing other people's work.
the service
we work hard to keep your drawings safe and pen pals running, but we can't
promise it will always be perfect, and we may change features. if we ever close
pen pals, we'll give you notice and a way to save your drawings. nothing here
takes away your rights under australian consumer law.
leaving
you can delete your account at any time. we can close an account that breaks
these rules.
